Terms of use & disclaimer
Last updated 25 October 2026
These terms apply when you use slop.kitchen's website or download, install or use its software: LAST LIGHT, Sound Lab and the DEV builds. By downloading or using any of them, you accept them. The first part applies to all of them; each product then has a section of its own, with the licence that comes in its zip as LICENSE.txt.

Everything on slop.kitchen
Free to download and use
The games and apps on slop.kitchen are freeware, © slop.kitchen. All rights are reserved, apart from what each product's licence below allows: in short, you may download them from slop.kitchen (or install them with Mixtape from our catalogs), use them on your own devices, keep backups and share screenshots and videos, but not sell them, redistribute them or modify them. Third-party material in them (fonts, instrument recordings, libraries) stays under its own licence, which the licence files in its zip list.
No warranty
The software and this site are provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. That includes, without limitation, warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not promise that they are free of bugs, that they work on your device or firmware, or that they will keep being available or updated.
Your device and your data
Installing a game or app means copying files to your handheld's SD card. Follow its install steps carefully. On a Mac in particular, dragging folders in Finder can replace the card's whole Roms folder. Back up your SD card, or at least your saves and projects, before installing or updating anything.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, slop.kitchen is not liable for any damages arising from the use of, or inability to use, the software or this site. That includes lost data, saves, projects or games, damage to devices or memory cards, hearing damage, and any indirect or consequential loss. Some places do not allow some of these exclusions; there, our liability is limited to the smallest amount the law permits. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Trademarks
slop.kitchen and its games and apps are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Miyoo or the Onion OS project. “Miyoo”, “Miyoo Mini Plus” and “Onion OS” belong to their respective owners. We use the names only to say which device and firmware the software runs on. Mixtape is a separate app with its own terms.
Feedback
If you send ideas or suggestions, we may use them in our software freely, with no obligation to you. How we handle what you send is explained in the privacy policy.
Changes
We may update these terms. The new version will be on this page with a new date, and it applies to downloads from then on.
LAST LIGHT
LAST LIGHT is freeware, Copyright (c) 2026 slop.kitchen. From version 1.0, the licence in its zip, LICENSE.txt, says:
LAST LIGHT is freeware. You may, free of charge, download it from the official LAST LIGHT website, https://slop.kitchen/lastlight, install it and play it on your own devices, keep backups of it and of your saves, and share screenshots and videos of your play.
You may not sell or rent it or charge for access to it; re-upload or redistribute the zip or the files in it (link to the official website instead); modify, decompile or reverse-engineer it, except where the law of your country allows this anyway; or remove or change this notice. No other licence to the program, its source code or its artwork is granted.
[…]
The restrictions above apply to LAST LIGHT's original material. Third-party material remains available under its own licenses, including the rights those licenses grant.
Earlier versions' LICENSE.txt differ: 0.10.0's names “the LAST LIGHT authors” and the old website, lastlight.slop.kitchen; 0.9.0's says that no licence had been chosen yet. The licence above now applies to every version slop.kitchen offers.
Linking to slop.kitchen/lastlight is always fine, and it means people get the current version. The game's text is drawn with the Exo 2 font by Natanael Gama, used under the SIL Open Font License 1.1; that licence, not these terms, governs the font. LICENSE.txt lists the rest of the third-party material.
The game's optional CPU BOOST runs the handheld's CPU at its normal maximum speed while you play. That uses more battery and makes the handheld warmer. It is off unless you turn it on.
Photosensitivity warning
LAST LIGHT and its trailer contain flashing lights, bright flashes and fast-moving patterns. A very small number of people may have seizures when exposed to certain light patterns, even with no history of epilepsy. If you or anyone in your family has had seizures or epilepsy, consult a doctor before playing. Stop playing immediately and see a doctor if you experience dizziness, altered vision, eye or muscle twitching, involuntary movements, loss of awareness, disorientation or convulsions. Play in a well-lit room, and take breaks.
Sound Lab
Sound Lab is freeware, Copyright (c) 2026 slop.kitchen. The licence in its zip, LICENSE.txt, says:
Sound Lab is freeware. You may, free of charge, download it from the official Sound Lab website, https://slop.kitchen/soundlab, install it and use it on your own devices, keep backups of it and of your files, and share screenshots and videos of it in use.
You may not sell or rent it or charge for access to it; re-upload or redistribute the zip or the files in it (link to the official website instead); modify, decompile or reverse-engineer it, except where the law of your country allows this anyway; or remove or change this notice. No other licence to the program, its source code, its music or its artwork is granted.
Sound Lab's original material includes its built-in pieces and its bundled recordings, Euphoric Defiance and its six loop arrangements, (c) 2026 slop.kitchen. Music and sounds you make yourself with Sound Lab, and the recordings you add to it, are yours: these terms claim nothing in them. A project or export made from a built-in piece still contains that piece.
[…]
The restrictions above apply to Sound Lab's original material. Third-party material remains available under its own licenses, including the rights those licenses grant.
MUSIC_CREDITS.txtcredits every built-in piece and recording.
The music
Sound Lab's built-in pieces are original compositions and Sound Lab's own arrangements of public-domain melodies: Beethoven's Ode to Joy, Bach's Prelude in C major (BWV 846) and the traditional Frère Jacques, from the public-domain editions its MUSIC_CREDITS.txt names. The bundled recordings, Euphoric Defiance and its six loop arrangements, are slop.kitchen's. MUSIC_CREDITS.txt in the zip credits every piece and recording, and Sound Lab's grand piano uses the University of Iowa's instrument recordings, credited in LICENSE.txt. What you make with Sound Lab, and the recordings you add to it, are yours, as the licence says.
Volume
Sound Lab plays music, tones and noise. Start with the handheld's volume low, especially on headphones, and turn it up slowly: loud sound can damage your hearing.
The phone microphone
The phone microphone is experimental. Use it only on your own Wi-Fi network, not on public or shared Wi-Fi. Its automatic setup uses a certificate from local-ip.sh, a third-party service that publishes that certificate's private key, so on a network you do not trust someone could pretend to be your handheld. With your own certificate (Sound Lab's INSTALL.txt explains how) this does not apply. The privacy policy says what the setup sends where.
DEV builds
slop.kitchen's dev catalog for Mixtape offers in-development builds: LAST LIGHT DEV, SOUND LAB DEV and UNDERLIGHT DEV. They come under the same terms as the product they are a build of, and UNDERLIGHT DEV under the same terms as LAST LIGHT, with Underlight in its place. They are also:
- untested: made while the software is still changing, so expect bugs; one may crash or lose its own saves, projects or progress;
- kept apart: each installs in a folder of its own, next to any stable version, with saves of its own;
- short-lived: each build stays downloadable until 31 days after a newer build of it replaces it, and is then removed.
UNDERLIGHT DEV's zip has no LICENSE.txt yet: these terms are its licence, and its OFL.txt and HTTPS-LICENSES.txt cover its third-party material.
